Remembering Mary Davey
Mary Davey

Our board president and dear friend, Mary Davey, passed away October 2, 2010, leaving a tangible void in our organization which she helped create in 1972, and which she helped lead as a director since 1994. Mary brought an infectious enthusiasm and warmth, boundless positive energy and a clear vision to her work. She had a gift for language, and for making people feel good about themselves and their work. She was an effective leader, our biggest cheerleader, and will continue to inspire our work at the Open Space District.

Mary was a passionate advocate for people as well as the environment, and dedicated much of her life to furthering the work of not only the Open Space District, but many other public and non-profit organizations. She leaves behind a legacy of public lands; verdant mountains and grassy hills cradling the cities and towns on the Peninsula where nature thrives, and that nurture our bodies, minds and spirits. We are all the better for the many gifts she has given the community, and to us and the work we do here at the Open Space District.

Thank you, Mary.
