The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2012! To commemorate this important milestone, the District is planning to publish an anniversary edition coffee table book, featuring photography, art, and poetry celebrating the beauty and diversity of our open space preserves.

Thank you for your interest and for your submissions of artwork and/or poetry for consideration for inclusion in the District’s upcoming coffee table book being produced in celebration of the District’s 40th anniversary in November 2012. The deadline for all submissions is now closed.

PROJECT UPDATE

Through a public Request for Proposal process, the District has selected Heyday Books in Berkeley for the publishing, production, distribution, promotion, and sales of our coffee table book.

Since the deadline for submittal of artwork and poetry passed in December 2010, staff have been coordinating the initial selection of artwork, poetry, and photography (photography selections were made from the District's Annual Digital Photo Contests) for possible inclusion in the book, and also meeting with the publisher in this regard.

Initial selections were provided to the publisher in early May 2011. Staff are still working with the publisher to determine the layout of the book, which will ultimately determine how many artwork, poetry, and photography pieces we’re able to include. At this time, final content selections have not been made yet.

Once the next round of content selections has been made by the publisher and further approved by the District, we will begin contacting the artists, poets, and photographers to let them know, either way, if their artwork, poetry or photography was selected for inclusion in the book.
