Sierra Azul + Bear Creek Master Plan
Special Site Tours Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve ToursTwo different tours through Sierra Azul will be offered: one will take members of the public to the top of Mount Umunhum to the site of the former Almaden Air Force Station. Tours of Mount Umunhum will last approximately two hours and start times will vary. The second tour will introduce the public to the Rancho de Guadalupe Area, which will require hiking on paved and unpaved roads with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet and is expected to last four hours. Sierra Azul - Mount Umunhum (THIS TOUR IS FULL)Tuesday, May 24, 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Sierra Azul - Rancho de Guadalupe AreaSaturday, May 21, 10:00 a.m. Bear Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve ToursBear Creek Redwoods tours will take the public through the western area of the preserve along unpaved roads with an elevation gain of 1,000 feet. Hiking will be required; most tours are expected to last approximately fours hours and will begin at 10:00 a.m. The tour dates are as follows: Sunday, June 5, 10:00 a.m.Friday, June 10, 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 10:00 a.m. So that we may extend this invitation to as many people as possible, only one tour space per person will be provided unless space allows for more. To sign up for one of the tours, please call the District office at (650) 691-1200 and ask for Chris Braley. Details for the hikes will be provided over the phone. Sign-ups will be taken starting on Monday, April 25.
