Community Group Steward

Who We Are

Community Group Stewards (CGS) are community-led associations, nonprofit organizations, school groups, culturally specific groups, religious organizations, scout groups, and businesses with an interest in volunteering together as a team in support of our ongoing volunteer stewardship efforts.

What We Do

      • Habitat restoration
      • Fence construction and repair
      • Trail improvement
      • Maintenance projects

Training

      • No experience is necessary
      • Midpen will provide tools, protective equipment and training as well as water and snacks
      • New volunteer groups traditionally begin with habitat restoration projects. Trail and fence work may be scheduled for returning groups or those with more technical experience
      • During lunch, our field staff are available to discuss and answer questions about Midpen and the preserves

Ready to Get Involved?

Complete the online Project Request Form and provide as much detail as possible so we can match you with the best project for your group! Please note the deadlines for submitting requests for each season.

      • January 1st - spring projects (April, May, June)
      • April 1st - summer projects (July, August, September)
      • July 1st - fall projects (October, November, December)
      • October 1st - winter projects (January, February, March)

Once program staff receive your request, they will assess the group, soil conditions and identified priority project needs, and provide you with a list of several options. Once all group and other projects decisions are finalized for the season, a program lead will coordinate with the group leaders on project details.
