About the Position:
Midpen’s Administrative Services has an excellent opportunity for two motivated individuals looking to grow their career within the Human Resources (HR) and Finance field. The District is seeking one full-time Human Resources Technician (HR) and one HR/Accounting Technician that will split their time between HR and Finance. The primary responsibility of each position is to provide excellent customer service when responding to inquiries from employees and the public, and provide generalist support for a variety of human resources and finance functions. The ideal candidates will be organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative self-starters with excellent oral and written communication skills, who enjoy working in a group dynamic.
The HR Technician role will provide a great foundation for a candidate looking to learn and grow in the Human Resources field. The HR Technician handles routine employee inquiries and is knowledgeable about District policies and procedures. The HR Technician is responsible for processing new hires, separations, and benefits/payroll information with accuracy in the HRIS/Payroll system. Successful performance of work requires a basic understanding of an HRIS system and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail. Must have experience with HRIS platforms and is able to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and information systems. The HR Technician will also act as a liaison between employees and contracted benefit providers, assist with open enrollment and provide administrative support for a variety of other programs such as performance evaluations and workers compensation. The HR/Accounting Technician role is a great opportunity for a candidate looking to learn and grow in both HR and Finance. The HR/Accounting Technician will split their time between the HR and Finance teams and assist with day-to-day administrative support. In HR, the technician will provide data entry, filing, HRIS/Payroll and other generalist level support similar to the full-time HR Technician. In Finance, the technician will perform a variety of routine to complex administrative and technical duties related to accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and other accounting support duties. The Finance Technician will be working in the District’s financial system to process invoices and verify data and will have experience working with financial systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and information systems. Required Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to two (2) years of college coursework in human resources or business administration or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or closely related function. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel (mid-level) and working knowledge of HRIS/Payroll systems. The ability to write, proofread, and format documents. Knowledge of myCalPERS is highly desirable.
In addition, the Finance Technician will have 3 years of experience in the maintenance of financial and accounting records. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable for both positions.
Licenses & Certifications Required: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
These positions are part of Administrative Services at the District’s offices in Los Altos, California and will work in an office environment.
