Midpen has opened a new field office in the South Bay, fulfilling a long-term goal to find a permanent location for staff, vehicles and equipment that is closer to our South Bay area open space lands: Bear Creek Redwoods, El Sereno, St. Joseph’s Hill and Sierra Azul open space preserves.

Nineteen Midpen ranger and maintenance staff will work out of the new office. Redistributing our workforce also helps Midpen reach our Climate Action Plan goals of reducing our agency’s greenhouse gas emissions 20% by 2022 and 40% by 2030. For example, shortening the distance of daily round-trip patrol routes to Mount Umunhum will save one ton of greenhouse gasses each year.
