Seasonal Trail Closures
Each year, the District seasonally closes certain trails to bicycle and equestrian use during wet conditions due to concern for visitor safety and resource damage. Rangers and District staff update notices about trail conditions often. View current trail conditions.
Notes on Seasonal and Interim Trail Closures Chart of regular District-wide seasonal closures. Seasonal trail closure map for El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Preserve. During extended dry periods in the winter season, these trails may be re-opened. Visitors should check the District's Web site frequently or call the Trail Conditions Hotline at (650) 691-2150 (enter Option 3).
Decisions to close trails are based on current and predicted weather conditions. Your cooperation with these trail closures is necessary to ensure a safe visit and to protect the trail tread from damage. If you visit the preserves during wet conditions, be sure to look for trail closure signs. Violations of any official trail closures are subject to citation. Trails may also be temporarily closed throughout the year due to construction or resource conservation projects. Check the Plans + Projects section of the Web site for more information on these projects. IMPORTANT: Please be aware that seasonal trail closures may change from day to day without notice, based on changing weather conditions. Also note that during winter storm season, high waters can make creek crossings hazardous, so plan your outing accordingly. |
