In 2022 Midpen celebrates its 50th anniversary. What better way to celebrate than by visiting every Midpen preserve for an "All 26 Challenges", a year-long series of docent naturalist-led hikes offered twice a month. The focus of each hike will be on a preserve's endemic flora and fauna, and human history. To get energized for the 2022 series, join docent naturalists Frances Reneau, Lindsay Joye, and Sabra Abraham for a warm-up outing on a classic little loop through Midpen's most populous preserve at a moderate pace. Your route will ascend to a vista point, and swing back through Deer Hollow Farm. (Note: Arrive early and allow extra time to find parking at this busy location.) Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after November 27 and close December 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Where to Meet

Meet at Lot 1 which includes the equestrian parking lot. From I-280, take Foothill Boulevard south and turn right almost immediately onto Cristo Rey Drive. Continue about 1 mile, veer right around the traffic circle, and turn left into the park. Once inside the preserve, turn left to reach the equestrian parking lot.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.

If your activity requires registration, please be sure to cancel your reservation (from your confirmation email) if you are no longer able to attend so others can participate.

After your participation on a guided activity please share your feedback — your input is meaningful to our volunteers and program staff – thank you!
