Saratoga Gap Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
5

Enjoy a moderately-paced hike through two preserves, a county park, and a state park with Docent Naturalists Mary Brunkhorst, Kate Bauer, and Nick Yatsko. You’ll walk through mixed evergreen forest along the Saratoga Gap Trail and a portion of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Crossing over to the sunnier side of the ridge, you’ll return through grasslands along the Achistaca Trail and finish the hike by way of the Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail. You'll enjoy lunch at a scenic spot along the trail.

Please note: Check Caltrans website for current highway conditions. There is a road closure impacting parts of Highway 9 due to recent storms. Please check conditions and use alternate routes, such as Redwood Gulch Road to get to the parking area for this activity.

Where to Meet

Meet at Caltran's Saratoga Gap Vista Point Parking Area on the southeast corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Highway 9 intersection.
