Fungal Fun

February 12, 2023
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
7

If you haven't yet discovered the variety of fungi along trails in the rainy season, then join Docent Naturalists Chris MacIntosh, Jumana Latif, and Naureen Moon on a leisurely to moderately-paced, stop-and-go walk down the eponymous trail, and along Whittemore Gulch and Harkins Ridge trails to see what fungal fruiting bodies the winter weather has brought out from beneath your feet. Given the current weather conditions, many fungi may be found or almost none ... a walk in the woods is never dull!

Where to Meet

Meet at the North Ridge Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard.  This entrance is next to the now closed Kings Mountain Country Store.  The parking lot is 4.5 miles south of Highway 92, and 8.1 miles north of Highway 84.
