Midpen Earns Top Honors for Financial Transparency and Governance
Los Altos, CA — For the fifth consecutive year, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) has been recognized with the special Triple Crown medallion by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for preparing annual comprehensive financial reports that embody the spirit of transparency.
The medallion is awarded to local governments that have received, in the same year, the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (ACFR), the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award (PAFR) and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. Midpen has received the Budget Award for 10 years, the ACFR for 8 years and the PAFR for 7 years.
Earlier this year, Midpen also received the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF). This recognition honors Midpen’s outstanding efforts to promote open government, ethical operations and accessible public engagement.
To receive this award, Midpen successfully completed a rigorous program through the SDLF, an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting best practices among California’s special districts. Midpen demonstrated its commitment to essential open governance and ethical financial reporting.
