Enjoy a leisurely-paced walk in the woods featuring all the classics: views down the conifer-punctuated ridges to the Pacific Ocean, eroded and peculiar sandstone outcroppings, and special plant species like the rare nutmeg tree. Highway 9, adjacent to the trailhead, was once a thoroughfare for Native Americans traveling to and from the coast; the Achistaca Trail in nearby Long Ridge Preserve is named in their honor. Docent Naturalists Frances Reneau, Ping Li, and Nancy Weintraub will be your guides on the 23rd hike in the “All Preserves” series celebrating Midpen’s 50th anniversary and will highlight the special natural and cultural history of this Preserve.

Where to Meet

Meet at Caltran's Saratoga Gap Vista Point Parking Area on the southeast corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Highway 9 intersection.
