Search for banana slugs, other forest-loving animals, and winter’s wildflowers with Docent Naturalists Catherine Crawford-Swent, Marie Faust Evitt, and Bobbie Riedel. On this leisurely-paced hike along the El Corte de Madera Creek and Tafoni trails, you'll observe the effects of seasonal rain as well as the long-term role of water in creating tafoni formations in sandstone rock. Children who are able to hike the 3.5-mile distance are encouraged to join and enjoy this magical, forested world. Bring a snack or lunch for a break.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Caltrans Skeggs Point Parking Area on the east side of Skyline Boulevard, about 4 miles north of La Honda Road (Highway 84) and 1.5 miles south of Kings Mountain Road.  Please note that Caltrans prohibits a left turn into the parking lot when approaching from the north along Skyline Blvd.
