Set your alarm and join Docent Naturalists Catherine Xun, Stephen Buckhout, Mari Aldridge, and Jennifer Anthony on the Ridge Trail for a front-row seat for sunrise. You’ll take a pre-dawn climb to Borel Hill—the highest point on public land in San Mateo County—then return the long way via the Charquin and Ancient Oaks trails where you’ll observe how winter moisture brings mosses and ferns to life. Bring a snack, and a headlamp or flashlight. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after January 9 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close January 22 at 2:00 p.m.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Russian Ridge Parking Area on the northwest corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection (across Skyline Blvd. on the right). Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 40 minutes travel time.
