Female birds have long been overlooked, understudied, and unfairly dismissed as quieter or less behaviorally complex than their male counterparts. But it doesn’t have to be this way! Get an early morning start with Docent Naturalists Melissa Hero and Cathy Brown on #FemaleBirdDay. You’ll take a leisurely-paced hike around Sausal Pond via the Spring Ridge and Betsy Crowder trails with the intention of paying specific attention to the remarkable behaviors, roles, and contributions of female birds to the avian world.

Where to Meet

The Lower Windy Hill Parking Area at the lower portion of the preserve is located on Portola Road. Please note: This parking lot fills quickly. Please do not park on Portola Road: parking is strictly enforced.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.
