What can you learn about the flora and fauna just by looking down? Join Docent Naturalists Nancy Weintraub, Helena Cohen, and Nick Yatsko for this third installment of a four-season series to practice your observational skills, remembering the guideline "don't look up.” You'll begin this moderately-paced hike by exploring the coniferous forests and the creek along the El Corte de Madera Creek and Tafoni trails. Investigating what’s emerging from the rocks, trees and bushes, you’ll ask: What are some signs of animals roaming the preserves? What about the little things like the lichen and moss? What about evidence of human people? You'll have an opportunity to see, feel, and hear the undergrowth in a fresh, engaged way as you observe from the ground up in the shade of summer. Bring a snack for a short break.
