How do you show up for the Earth? Come help out our home planet on this special holiday by spending a fun day outdoors with Midpen Volunteer Program Lead Catherine Caldwell, Interpretive Specialist Katie Renz, and Docent Naturalists Alison Hurst and Jessica Kolla. In the morning you’ll help restore habitat by removing invasive weeds. Staff will provide training on plant identification, removal techniques, and information about why we want to remove this plant from our local landscape. This project is an excellent opportunity for first-time volunteers.
After lunch, enjoy a moderately-paced hike in this preserve known for its incredible wildflower display. You'll learn a bit about the 56-year history of Earth Day and consider your own relationship with the natural world for the remaining the 364 days of the year. Reservations are required and available here starting Wednesday, March 4.
Meet at the Russian Ridge Parking Area on the northwest corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection (across Skyline Blvd. on the right). Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 40 minutes travel time.
