Few views are as spectacular as a sunset and moon rise from the top of Black Mountain. Join Docent Naturalists Paul Billig, Renee Fitzsimons, Ping Li, and Melissa Hero as you witness both happening just minutes apart. The hike begins with a moderate climb up the Bella Vista Trail, Old Ranch Trail, and Montebello Road trails where you stop to enjoy the dinner you bring. Afterward as you descend, the moonlight will illuminate the distant hills. Bring pad or plastic to sit on. Red filters for your flashlight will be provided for those who need them. The hike includes a 700-foot elevation gain. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after May 20 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close June 3 at 2:00 p.m.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Monte Bello Parking Area on Page Mill Road (across from Los Trancos Preserve), 7 miles west of I-280 or 1.5 miles east of Skyline Boulevard. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time.
