Explorer Hike: Bayside Birding

Wednesday, October 21, 2026
10:30 am - 2:00 pm
Ravenswood Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
3

You’ll look for migratory birds as they return from their northern breeding grounds during this leisurely-paced, level stroll along the Bay Trail with Docent Naturalists Nick Yatsko, Kate Bauer, and Mary Brunkhorst. You’ll learn about the restoration of this bayside preserve and the importance of this endangered habitat to resident and visiting wildlife. Bring your lunch, binoculars, and, most importantly, your desire to learn about birds.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Ravenswood Parking Area. From Highway 101, exit on University Avenue. Follow University Ave. north (about four long blocks) to Bay Road.  Turn right on Bay Rd. and follow it to the very end (about 1.2 miles).  The preserve entrance and parking lot are marked with large signs.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.
