Set off from the top of Skyline Blvd. to sample some of the routes along the upper portion of this mostly forested preserve with Docent Naturalists Nick Yatsko, Kate Bauer, and Mary Brunkhorst. You'll enjoy a route through the redwoods and Douglas firs that follows the North Ridge, Whittemore Gulch, and Harkins Ridge trails. You’ll gain some spectacular views on this moderately-paced hike with 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Bring a snack for a break.

Where to Meet

Meet at the North Ridge Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard. From the north: From the Highway 92 and Highway 35 intersection, travel on Highway 35 south approximately 4.4 miles. The parking area will be on your right. From the south: From Highway 84 and Highway 35 intersection, travel on Highway 35 north approximately 8 miles. The parking area will be on your left.
