‘Tis the season to learn about what natural gifts late fall brings such as the berries and nuts found growing wild in the local habitats. On this leisurely-paced, family-friendly hike with Docent Naturalists Olga and Tony Bright, you’ll explore around Sausal Pond on the Spring Ridge and Betsy Crowder trails looking for these fruits and considering the various ways they’ve been used in human cultures. (Note: Foraging is prohibited on protected lands; this activity is for interest/information/fun only.)

Where to Meet

The Lower Windy Hill Parking Area at the lower portion of the preserve is located on Portola Road. Please note: This parking lot fills quickly. Please do not park on Portola Road: parking is strictly enforced.
