Walking down into Stevens Creek Canyon, Docent Naturalists Debbie Mytels, Ping Li, and John Seyfarth will help you identify various ferns and other plants that evolved before flowers graced the Earth. You’ll learn how ferns have been a part of many cultures over the generations and how some fern parts have been an edible delicacy, especially in Chinese culture. You’ll stop for a lunch break on the Canyon Trail, then find yet another type of ancient plant near a sag pond before returning to the parking area.
