If you have not discovered the variety of fungi along trails in the rainy season, then join docent naturalists Chris MacIntosh and Marie Faust Evitt on a leisurely- to moderately-paced, stop-and-go walk along the North Ridge, Whittemore Gulch, and Harkins Ridge Trails to see what fungal fruiting bodies the winter weather has brought out from beneath your feet. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after December 26 and close January 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Where to Meet

Meet at the North Ridge Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard.  This entrance is next to the now closed Kings Mountain Country Store.  The parking lot is 4.5 miles south of Highway 92, and 8.1 miles north of Highway 84.
