Come learn about the fascinating geology creating the Santa Cruz Mountains. Join Docent Naturalists Liza Coe and Susan Dunn on a fun, educational, leisurely-paced hike along the Nonette Hanko San Andreas Fault Trail and possibly into the neighboring Monte Bello Preserve, as well. You'll learn about geologic features that can be observed together and share tales of past earthquakes that give us clues about how the mountains formed, what they're made of, and how old they are. (Note: Families with engaged children who are attentive listeners and capable of hiking several miles are welcome on this outing with minimal elevation change.)
Meet at Los Trancos Parking Area on Page Mill Road (across from Monte Bello Preserve), 7 miles west of I-280 or 1.5 miles east of Skyline Boulevard. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time.
