Habitat Restoration & Interpretive Hike

Saratoga Gap Preserve
Approximate Total Miles

Spend a fun morning learning about restoration work and connecting to nature with Midpen's Volunteer Interpretive Lead Catherine Caldwell, Interpretive Specialist Katie Renz, and Docent Naturalist Alison Hurst. First you'll get hands-on removing a small patch of invasive French broom. This will be followed by an interpretive hike along the Saratoga Gap Trail to observe some of the early fall phenomena found in the mixed evergreen woodland habitat, as well as hear stories about a nearby plane crash and an old toll road. This activity is an excellent opportunity for new outdoor enthusiasts and first-time habitat restoration volunteers! Sign-ups are required and will open here on Wednesday, September 2.

Where to Meet

Meet at Caltran's Saratoga Gap Vista Point Parking Area on the southeast corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Highway 9 intersection.
