Expand your knowledge of lichen on a leisurely-paced walk along the Bald Knob Trail with Docent Naturalists Susan Dunn, Kate Bauer, and Catherine Xun. You’ll encounter both common and unusual species of lichen, fungi, and moss thriving in a remote area of this forested preserve, depending on seasonal rainfall. These colorful and complex organisms should be at the height of their annual reproductive activity. Learn about the important roles they play in the ecosystem and what challenges they face. Bring a lunch or snack and a magnifying lens, if you like. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after January 13 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close January 26 at 2:00 p.m.
