Celebrate this Valentine Day with a hike to honor your affection for the natural world. Join Midpen’s Interpretive Specialist Katie Renz and Docent Naturalists Bobbie Riedel and Marie Faust Evitt for an open-hearted wander through the redwood forests while absorbing the ocean view. You’ll botanize among heart-shaped plants, blush while learning about courtship rituals of local species, and consider how preservation and stewardship are acts of love. This hike encompasses steep sections but is leisurely-paced and with frequent stops. (Note: Bring a pen and blank paper for a sit-spot journaling exercise, a brief poem or passage about the natural world to share, and a lunch.)

Where to Meet

Meet at the North Ridge Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard.  This entrance is next to the now closed Kings Mountain Country Store.  The parking lot is 4.5 miles south of Highway 92, and 8.1 miles north of Highway 84.
