Show your love for the land this Valentines Day at the Hawthorns Area, a closed portion of this preserve. Led by Volunteer Program Lead Catherine Caldwell, Interpretive Specialist Katie Renz, and Docent Naturalists Lyle Rice and Casey Litton, in the morning you’ll volunteer for an hour pulling French broom, a common invasive plant. Follow this hands-on habitat restoration with an interpretive stroll around the outside of the century-old mansion, learn about the cultural history of this special location, and fall in love with the flora. Bring snacks or a lunch. This activity is an excellent opportunity for new outdoor enthusiasts and first-time habitat restoration volunteers! Sign-ups are required and will open Wednesday, January 7 here.
Directions will be sent after registration closes.
