In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Measure AA, join Docent Naturalists Paul Billig and Annie Guo for a summertime hike at the top of the world, Mt Umunhum. After climbing 159 steps to the summit, you’ll take in the 360-degree view from 3,486 feet above the bay and re-live Midpen’s 2017 Grand Opening Tour. Then you’ll descend about 880 feet along the shady Mt. Umunhum Trail to the Guadalupe Creek Overlook where you’ll enjoy your lunch before heading back. After completing this moderately-paced hike, you’ll both understand and experience how the mountain got its name.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Mt. Umunhum Summit Parking Area at the top of Mt. Umunhum Road. Exit Highway 85 at Camden Avenue. (From Southbound Hwy. 85 turn left on Camden Ave. From northbound Hwy. 85 turn left on Branham Avenue, then left on Camden Ave.) Travel on Camden Ave. about 1.6 miles.
