Feel like enjoying a family-friendly, leisurely-paced, afternoon hike to explore the ways humans have oriented themselves and traveled through the landscape over time? Join Docent Naturalists Inga Buyse, Ann McCarty, and An Scharlaken to discover the trails around Horseshoe Lake, including the Horseshoe Loop and Fir Knoll trails. You’ll experience a sampling of various habitats—wetland, grasslands, oak woodlands, and mixed evergreen forest—all within a short distance.
Meet at the Skyline Ridge Circle Parking Area on Skyline Boulevard located one mile south of the Skyline Blvd. (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection. After entering the preserve, turn right and go to the farthest parking area. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 45 minutes travel time.
