Join Docent Naturalists Nancy Weintraub, Nick Yatsko, Sabra Abraham, and Annie Guo on a ramble from Rancho to the Duveneck Windmill Pasture Area and the Mary Davey Memorial on this moderately-paced, exercise-focused hike. You'll follow a lightly traveled route through grasslands, chaparral, and oak woodland ecosystems while climbing the Chamise Trail to the top of the Rhus Ridge Trail. Enjoy the changing color palette during the climb to take a snack break at the Mary Davey bench before heading back down to the hubbub of Rancho.
Meet near the restroom at the bottom of the hill in the preserve parking lot farthest to the right. From I-280, take Foothill Boulevard south and turn right almost immediately onto Cristo Rey Drive. Continue about 1 mile, veer right around the traffic circle, and turn left into the park. After entering the preserve, turn right and drive approximately 0.3 miles to Lot 6.
