A Road Less Traveled

Thursday, December 25, 2025
10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Skyline Ridge Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
4

Join Docent Naturalists Stella Yang and Stephen Buckhout to enjoy a potentially quiet winter day in the open space on a short, leisurely-paced out-and-back hike on the Old Page Mill Trail. This route travels through mixed evergreen forest and chaparral studded with sandstone rock outcrops. You may see some small waterfalls if there has been winter rain. Anticipate a 500-foot elevation gain on the return leg. (Note: Children capable of hiking four miles are welcome but the trail will not accommodate strollers.)

Where to Meet

For this activity at Skyline Ridge Preserve, meet at the Russian Ridge Parking Area on the northwest corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection (across Skyline Blvd. on the right). Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 40 minutes travel time.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.
