Winter is the perfect season to explore the redwood forest in search of spore-forming inhabitants—think fungi, hornworts and liverworts, lichen, and ferns! Join Docent Naturalists Sabra Abraham, Lindsay Joye, and Nick Yatsko for a moderately-paced hike along the El Corte de Madera Creek, Resolution, Fir, and Tafoni trails to search for these lesser known, non-flowering organisms. Bring a lunch for a brief stop.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Caltrans Skeggs Point Parking Area on the east side of Skyline Boulevard, about 4 miles north of La Honda Road (Highway 84) and 1.5 miles south of Kings Mountain Road.  Please note that Caltrans prohibits a left turn into the parking lot when approaching from the north along Skyline Blvd.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.
