Spring Forward to Mount Umunhum

Experience the transition from winter to spring with Docent Naturalists Nancy Weintraub, Megan Elmore, and Laura Knott-Thomas on this moderately-paced, gradual ascent of the Mt Umunhum summit (approximately 1,200 feet). You’ll hike on the partially shaded Mt. Umunhum Trail, along the way earning unparalleled views from this section of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. You’ll learn about the highlights of the natural and cultural histories of this iconic mountain and enjoy your well-deserved snack or lunch at the top before descending back to the parking area.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Bald Mountain Parking Area located on Mt. Umunhum Rd. Exit Highway 85 at Camden Avenue. (From northbound Hwy. 85 turn left on Branham Avenue and then turn left on Camden Ave. and from southbound Hwy. 85 turn left on Camden Ave.) Travel on Camden Ave. about 1.6 miles to Hicks Road and turn right, and travel for about 6.3 miles. Turn right on Mt. Umunhum Rd. and continue for about 1.7 miles. The parking lot will be on the left.
