Giant puffballs? Death cap fungi? Hitchhiker and helicopter seeds? Come explore the fascinating worlds of seeds and spores with Docent Naturalists John Seyfarth and Olga and Tony Bright on a leisurely-paced hike from the Willowbrook-Alpine Roadside Parking Area to the Spring Ridge and Betsy Crowder trails. You’ll search for seeds and fungi, learn about how they spread, and discover the innovative strategies that help the next generation take root. (Note: There is a picnic area available at the nearby Portola Valley Town Center for optional lunch afterwards.)

Where to Meet

From Interstate 280, exit Sand Hill Rd. west. Follow Sand Hill Rd. for approximately 1.9 miles, after which it becomes Portola Rd. Stay on Portola Rd. for another 2.6 miles. Turn right onto Willowbrook Dr, and continue for 0.8 miles. This roadside parking is located at the corner of Willowbrook Dr. and Alpine Rd, at the trailhead.
