The weather is cooling and the rainy season has arrived. Join Docent Naturalists Martin Manley and Linda Smith for a moderately-paced hike to observe the effects of seasonal change on the wide variety of plant communities found in the Bay Area, many of which are in this preserve. You’ll discuss the varieties of plant communities and the ways they have adapted to their unique environments. If weather allows, you'll take a lunch break at picnic tables down by Stevens Creek. At the end of the hike you have the option of wine tasting on your own at Picchetti Winery. (Please note: that this hike will occur in light or moderate rain – it can be a wonderful time to enjoy this preserve if you have good raingear.)

Where to Meet

Meet at the preserve parking lot on Montebello Road. From the intersection of I-280 and Foothill Expressway, go 3.5 miles southwest (toward the mountains) on Foothill Boulevard/Stevens Canyon Road.  Turn right on Montebello Rd.  The preserve is 0.5 miles up Montebello Rd. on the left.
