Explore three different habitats—grassland, riparian, mixed woodlands—on this moderately-paced loop hike led by Docent Naturalists Anouchka Gaillard, Peter Maxwell, and Nick Yatsko. You’ll begin this counterclockwise route along the Betsy Crowder and Spring Ridge trails to climb up to Skyline Boulevard. From there, you’ll reach the top of Windy Hill via the Anniversary Trail and finally close the loop along the Lost and Hamms Gulch trails. This fun trek includes 1,500 feet of elevation change. What wildlife and early winter changes will you see? Bring a picnic lunch for a stop along the way.
The Lower Windy Hill Parking Area at the lower portion of the preserve is located on Portola Road. Please note: This parking lot fills quickly. Please do not park on Portola Road: parking is strictly enforced.
