Nature journaling involves closely observing the natural world and describing what you sense using words, drawings, or paintings. Spend a Sunday morning being creative in nature with Docent Naturalists Ann Reisenauer, Noa Doitel, and Susan Bernhard. You’ll start with activities to engage your senses, followed by an exploration of Alpine Pond. Then you’ll have some quiet time to sit and write a poem, draw a wildflower, or make a painting. Participants will have the option of sharing and discussing their new journal pages. Please bring: sketchbook/journal; pen and pencil; if working in color, a set of color pencils or watercolors; portable chair if desired; a snack.

Where to Meet

For this activity at Skyline Ridge Preserve, meet at the Russian Ridge Parking Area on the northwest corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection (across Skyline Blvd. on the right). Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 40 minutes travel time.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.
