Step into the shadows for an unforgettable after-hours experience with Docent Naturalists Karen DeMello, Melissa Hero, and Cathy Brown. You’ll learn about local owl species and, as dusk turns to darkness, possibly hear one or two of their calls. This leisurely-paced hike exploring the trails around Sausal Pond is suitable for attentive and interested children over eight years old. Wear warm layers (“quiet” clothing preferred), bring flashlights (with red cellophane covering if possible), binoculars if you have them, and optional snacks that will not be loud as you open them. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after January 23 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and close February 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Where to Meet

The Lower Windy Hill Parking Area at the lower portion of the preserve is located on Portola Road. Please note: This parking lot fills quickly. Please do not park on Portola Road: parking is strictly enforced.
