The Wallace Stegner Special

November 6, 2021
10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Long Ridge Preserve
Approximate Total Miles
5

On this moderately-paced hike along the Peters Creek and Long Ridge Trails, you’ll learn the interesting history of this preserve with docents Ann Reisenauer and Susan Bernhard. A special stop will be at the Wallace Stegner Bench which commemorates one of the author and conservationist’s favorite places. The location affords sweeping views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. You’ll observe signs of fall as big leaf maples turn yellow and madrone trees produce red berries. With luck you’ll glimpse wild turkeys foraging for acorns. Bring your own snack to enjoy at the bench. Reservations are required and will be accepted on or after October 23 and will close on November 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Note: Regardless of vaccination status, all activity participants will be required to wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Please review the additional COVID-19 safety protocols provided when you register for an activity.
