As the days lengthen and the weather warms, wildflowers are slowly beginning to bloom in Midpen preserves. As you enjoy them, please help ensure they return each year to play their important role in our natural ecosystem, as well as provide food for wildlife and beauty for visitors by following these simple guidelines:

  • Stay on established trails. This protects fragile wildflowers and their habitat, and reduces soils compaction that prevents wildflowers from growing in the future. Please tread lightly.
  • Take photos not flowers. Wildflowers wilt quickly after picking and can’t be transplanted. Picking wildflowers also prevents them from going to seed, which limits future wildflowers blooms.Do not pick wildflowers.
  • Take photos OF flowers not IN flowers. Walking on or sitting in flowers damages existing blooms and prevents the next generation from growing. Please take photographs from established trails only.
