Wildfire Incident in Monte Bello

Updated August 1, 2025 at 11 a.m.

A wildfire incident occurred this morning on August 1, 2025, off of Waterwheel Creek Trail at Monte Bello Open Space Preserve. The fire is now 100% contained and there is no immediate threat to public safety. The area around Waterwheel Creek Trail is currently closed.

Midpen is working closely with CAL Fire and Santa Clara County Fire to extinguish hot spots within the burn perimeter and monitor the fire area.

Our top priority is the safety of the public, first responders and all the people, animals and habitats affected by this incident. We urge the public to use caution and avoid the area until it is reopened since flare ups can occur.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. For information on wildfire preparedness, please visit readyforwildfire.org.

Further updates from Midpen will be provided on this web page.
