On December 13, 2023, Midpen entered into a two-year contract with Latino Outdoors to provide engaging outdoor experiences for diverse participants at various open space preserves and through online virtual presentations. Under the new contract, Latino Outdoors will host 18 total community outreach engagements (16 in-person and two virtual events) over the next two years.
Previous contracts with Latino Outdoors have been conducted on an annual basis, the move to a 2-year contact will further strengthen the partnership and build increased capacity by allowing longer-term planning.
Since its founding in 2013, Latino Outdoors volunteers and staff have led almost 800 outings nationwide, serving nearly 15,000 outing participants and engaging tens of thousands more through online programming and communications. Midpen has partnered with Latino Outdoors since 2015 to bring families, youth, seniors and new users to the preserves in keeping with the our outreach and inclusion goals.
Latino Outdoor’s first event of 2024 is their Amor y Amistad Hike which will take place on Sunday, February 11 at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve.
