Safely Celebrating the Fourth of July

To maintain public safety during the ongoing drought and fire season, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District will strictly enforce preserve and parking lot closure times on July 4, 2022 – no access after sunset.

Open space lands belong to everyone – please help us stay safe by remembering that smoking, fires and fireworks are never allowed in Midpen preserves.

The danger of firework ignitions is very real. Personal fireworks, including “safe and sane”, are illegal in most Santa Clara and San Mateo County cities and in the unincorporated areas of both counties. “Large grass crops and abundant vegetation increase the threat for devastating wildfires throughout all of California,” said CAL FIRE SCU Unit Chief George Huang. “That is why we must take all precautions for this upcoming fire year.”

If you see signs of a fire, please call 911.
