The Prospect Road Culvert Replacement Project is set to enhance flood protection for the roadway and public parking area by replacing a damaged culvert beneath the road within Fremont Older Open Space Preserve. The culvert was severely damaged during the 2022-2023 winter storms.
The culvert is essential for both ecological function and public access. It facilitates the flow of Prospect Creek while supporting Prospect Road, a multi-use trail and the only vehicular access to residences within the preserve.
The culvert replacement project will require the closure of Prospect Road on weekdays during the construction period. For preserve visitors, please use the Cora Older Trail as a detour. For residents, construction crews should be able to clear the site and allow for vehicle access within approximately 5-10 minutes.
