Day on the Deck

October 31, 2021
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Skyline Ridge Preserve

Nature Myths, Mysteries and More

Witches butter and deadman’s fingers? Stinging nettles and poison oak? Spider bites and scorpion stings? Screeching owls and screaming cougars? Glowing eyes and fluorescing bodies? Stop by a favorite local haunt, the David C. Daniels Nature Center at Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve for another Day on the Deck. Midpen interpretation and education staff, docent volunteers, and Rolo the gopher snake will host a "pop-up" event overlooking Alpine Pond and reveal fact over fiction about many of nature’s fascinating wonders with some myth-busting displays and engagement

WORKING TOGETHER TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFER

We have missed having visitors to the Daniels Nature Center over the past year and a half and welcome the chance to spend time with you again. Please wear a face covering when you come to a Day on the Deck. We are asking that all visitors, regardless of vaccination status, adhere to this COVID-19 safety protocol. Thank you!

Please note that a Day on the Deck may be cancelled on short notice due to weather conditions (heat or rain), poor air quality, or mandated COVID-19 public health safety responses.

Where to Meet

Park at the Russian Ridge Preserve parking lot on the northwest corner of the Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection (across Skyline Blvd. on the right). Walk to Alpine Pond at Skyline Ridge Preserve by going through the tunnel under Alpine Rd.  The Nature Center is a small gray building on the east shore of Alpine Pond.
