Join Midpen partner Latino Outdoors for their City Nature Challenge inspired hike on Sunday, April 28th at 10am at St Joseph's Hill Preserve.

Sign-ups open April 14th at 10:00am.

We will explore the preserve and make frequent stops to make observations of the plants and animals we find along the way.

This weekend is the City Nature Challenge 2024! The City Nature Challenge (CNC) has grown into an international event, motivating people around the world to find and document wildlife and nature in and around their cities, by using apps and platforms like iNaturalist. Together, we'll learn a little bit more about this international challenge and how we can participate!

Things to note:

  • We will meet at the Jones Trailhead right off of Alma Bridge Rd.
  • Dogs are welcome, but must be on leash.
  • We will provide a light lunch and snacks.
  • Please bring sun protection (sun screen/hat), plenty of water, and comfortable clothing/shoes.

Please use the Eventbrite registration link to sign up to attend.

Where to Meet

Meet at the County boat launch parking lot next to the Lexington Reservoir Dam. From southbound Highway 17, take the Bear Creek Road exit, cross over the highway, and go 0.4 miles north on Highway 17 to Alma Bridge Road. Follow Alma Bridge Rd. over the top of the dam. Continue beyond the dam as the road jogs to the right.  Turn right into the parking lot just before the road veers to the left. A Santa Clara County Park parking fee is in effect.
