PUBLIC MEETING: PLANNING AND NATURAL RESOURCES BOARD COMMITTEE July 28, 2020 at 1 p.m.
The Public Access Working Group is made up of citizens and Midpen board members evaluating options for expanding public access to the central area of Midpen’s La Honda Creek Preserve.
At this meeting, the Working Group’s recommendations will be shared with Midpen’s Planning and Natural Resources Board Committee for consideration.
This meeting is being held virtually due to COVID-19 public health guidelines. This online meeting agenda has details and participation instructions.
The La Honda Public Access Working Group will work with Midpen staff on the La Honda Parking and Trailhead Access Feasibility Study. The working group will meet to:
- Consider and evaluate parking location/trailhead access options that meet the Board-approved project goals and objectives
- Make suggestions to the Midpen project team
- Provide feedback to the Planning and Natural Resources Committee (PNR)
As an advisory body to the Board, the PNR makes recommendations to the full Board, with the Board making the final policy decisions informed by input from both the Working Group and PNR. Work on the project is targeted to last through August 2020.
- Establish new public access in the central portion of La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve
- Design elements to reflect the rural character of the site and the Red Barn
- Provide safe public access
- Balance public access with grazing activities
- Include amenities that facilitate environmental education
- Protect scenic views of and from the site
Meeting agendas and materials are posted a minimum of 72 hours prior to the meeting.

The Working Group is expected to serve approximately 12 to 18 months. The group is comprised of:

-Recruited through an application process. Selected and appointed by the full Board on June 26, 2019.

|-Represent more localized Ward 6 interests and perspectives.
-Appointed by the Director of Ward 6.
