California Elections Code section 10515 requires that when the number of candidates who file for an office is less than or equal to the number of offices to be filled, the election may be cancelled and the qualified candidates will be appointed in lieu of election. For each of the seats for Midpen wards 1, 2, 5, and 6, there was only one qualified candidate. Due to an insufficient number of candidates, Midpen’s November 8, 2022 general election will be cancelled. The candidates will take office in January 2023 and will serve as if elected.
The following candidates qualified for the November 8, 2022 election and will be appointed.
|Ward 1||Ward 2||Ward 5||Ward 6|
|Craig Gleason||Yoriko Kishimoto||Karen Holman||Margaret MacNiven|
The District is divided into seven geographic wards, each represented by an elected official for a four-year term.
Anyone who is 18 years of age and who is a resident and registered voter in the ward from which they are nominated may run for a seat on the Board of Directors.
Potential candidates are required to gather fifty (50) valid signatures of registered voters from their ward on a required nomination form furnished only by the District Clerk.
Prior to soliciting or receiving campaign contributions, a candidate must file Form 501, Candidate Intention Statement, with the District Clerk. The form is available from the district clerk or can be downloaded from the Fair Political Practices website.
