What We Do

Russian Ridge Preserve (Deane Little)

Midpen helps plants, animals and people thrive throughout the greater Santa Cruz Mountains region by preserving a connected greenbelt of more than 70,000 acres of public open space. These diverse and scenic landscapes, from bay wetlands to redwood forests and coastal grasslands, host an incredible diversity of life, making our region one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots.

What We Do

Each fiscal year, Midpen creates a Capital Improvement and Action Plan that drives our work and determines priority projects, Most projects span multiple years and many involve public-private partnerships.

Here's a look at just a few of our current projects.

Measure AA

Following approval of the vision plan, in June 2014 voters passed Measure AA, a 30-year, $300 million general obligation bond to fund land conservation, public access and restoration projects of the top 25 vision plan priority action portfolios.

Partnerships

Midpen collaborates with other public agencies and nonprofit organizations to accomplish our mission and best serve our communities.
